Here come the girls!
Who is going to fill your page?
With 2018 being the Year of the Woman and also, as Lara let me know today, the 100 year anniversary of women achieving the right to vote, it feels like we need do something to celebrate being strong women and girls (SWAGs).
You all know what a great working partnership Festival Events and Planning has with the lovely Sara from The Bridal Lounge, so, in a recent meeting between the three of us we got around to thinking, how could we support each other to achieve more? And the answer to that is in collaborating by the power of the tribe.
Since Lara and I started this company we have been privileged to come across some beautiful and talented ladies. So for us, creating the Facebook Page of the Cheshire SWAGs (Strong Women and Girls) with this group of women, as not only a place for people to share, ask and inspire but also to celebrate working together and encourage others to draw on their tribe to help them to achieve greatness, was an absolute no brainer. For us 2018 won't just be the year of the woman, it will be the year of collaborative women.
This lovely lot of Cheshire SWAGs founder members have some plans for you this year, starting very soon! Watch this space.......
I’m Rachel, but I prefer Rach. Only my Dad calls me Rachel and that’s when he’s cross! I have a varied job history which has led me to open an events planning company with my bestie, Lara, in 2017. I am a big believer in positivity so have set-up, along with my beautiful collaborators here, Cheshire SWAGs an online group for Strong Women and Girls to share ideas, passions and to help each other to succeed in life. My favourite thing to do is to create (actual things or havoc). Collectively, we have an event coming up that Lara, Sara
and I have arranged where as a group of women we are collaborating to promote our businesses. I love my daughter, my family and my dogs. Watch this space for more details. Exciting times for us girls.
Hi. I am Lara from Festival Events and Planning. My little girl went to High School in September and I knew that I would be in a position to invest some time in a project for myself. Coincidentally Rach was about to launch Festival Events and Planning Limited, we chatted and agreed that there would be nothing better than working in partnership and building a business that will hopefully be our daughters one day. I love to be organised and probably the largest event I have been a part of was The Commonwealth Games in Manchester - I am
married, have 2 children and a lovely Cavapoo called Pippin. Like minded people inspire me and I feel in very good company as a Cheshire SWAG.
Hi. I'm Sara. I have spent all my life at the front end of sales with some of the UK’s largest FMCG brands, culminating in my most successful position as Head of Retail for Pandora. After years of working for highly successful companies I chose to use my knowledge and skills to develop my own brand and as such ‘The Bridal Lounge’ was born. The Bridal Lounge is an exclusive boutique offering the most exquisite range of bridal gowns, prom wear, occasion wear and accessories however we are not like other
boutiques. Our motto is “The Bridal Lounge - where exceptional is standard”. We love what we do and do what we love and from this our passion from weddings is tangible! Out side of career Sara I am happily married to my very supportive husband David and we live in Lymm, Cheshire. I have one daughter Sophie, she is of course my finest work!
My name is Helen and I’m sister to the lovely Rach, auntie to the lovely Lucie and married to the patient and selectively deaf Marcus, we have two children and a naughty dog called Monty.
After a 26 year career spent as an insurance broker, life in 2018 has taken me on a wonderfully different path enabling me to set up my own costume jewellery and accessories business, which launches in April this year.
As well as all things shiny and sparkly (and shoes), I also have a passion for netball. I think this shows women at their best, working as a team, a tribe, a sisterhood and I love the confidence working together brings.
Hi, I’m Abby; Mummy, Wife and lover of all things beauty!
I am a qualified nail professional and make-up artist and my passion is about making people feel beautiful.
I started my business 12 months ago and it was the best thing I ever did! The people I have met and continue to meet make what I do even more worth while and I absolutely love it.
I have joined the Look Good Feel Better charity to help women and teenagers manage the visible side effects of cancer. It’s something very close to my heart and I feel it’s important to give back and help as much as I can with the skills I have.
I am so excited for all the opportunities I have been given and can’t wait to see what the future holds.
Hi I'm Tracey, mother of three gorgeous boys, partner to a very patient Glen, and have 4 cats.
After working as a hairdresser for 26 years in different roles, I decided to open a beautiful salon in Grappenhall, it's now been open for 18 months and we now have another stylist and beauty therapist too.
I love my boys and my lovely partner, gardening in the summer and snuggling up in the winter in front of our log fire.
I am really looking forward to working with these lovely women.
I’m Georgia Willis, age 15. I live at home with my Mum Dawn, Brother Charlie, my 3 dogs (two rescued) and my two cats. I love school, my favourite subjects are RE and Drama. I love a good debate and sometimes can get carried away trying to get my point across. If I had the chance to rescue every suffering animal across the world I would. I attend a drama school on a Monday night at the Epstein Theatre in Liverpool and I love it.
In 2015 a family member put me forward for a competition to be ‘ Face of the NorthWest’ I had never done anything like that before and didn’t have a clue what I was doing, but I went on to win.
I was invited to compete in Paris for ‘Face of the Globe’ up against 5000 girls from across the world. I won, I couldn’t believe it and held the title for a year. The Liverpool Echo did a page on me in their paper because I brought the crown back to my country and city of Liverpool, it was also Pancreatic cancer awareness week when I won and my Dad died when I was 8 of this terrible disease so I decided to do dog walking to raise money for pancreatic cancer research.
In December 2017 I was chosen to model for a designer called Camille Couture in New York for BBTC Cosmopolitan
Top Model. It was an amazing four days, with photo shoots and videos at all the top New York hotels, meeting designers and photographers and making so many new friends from across the globe. I went on to win ‘ Best International Runway model’ who would of believed it. I have featured in two model magazines as ‘ Top new models of 2017’ and ‘Fresh new face 2018’. In April I am walking again for another designer in a charity event. All these opportunities have taken my breath away. The experience I am gaining from it all will guide me to my dream of becoming and actress and a model. Give me a stage and I will walk the walk or act the act! Love love love it Gx
Hi, I’m Meg, a 17 year old aspiring actress from Cheshire. I studied locally at Bridgewater High School and now attend LIPA Performing Arts Sixth Form in Liverpool. I have always had a passion for performing and have worked alongside Sarah Solomani, Tom Cullen and other stars in a Sky1 series called 'The Five' as well as doing work on the likes of Coronation Street, The League of Gentlemen and various projects. I wish to continue this through drama school education once
leaving college and am excited to see what the future holds!
My name is Lucie and I am a 20 year old Marketing Student at Liverpool Moore’s University. I was really excited when my Mum opened Festival Events and Planning because it was a way of utilising and tying in what I was learning to get me some experience whilst studying. I am currently in Year 2, due to start my sandwich year in industry in summer this year. I love my sausage dogs, although they are quite naughty. My aims in life are happiness and success and I consider myself to be ambitious. I am a make-up addict and did some modelling when I was younger, along with work on Waterloo Road. I am inspired
by confident women who go out and get what they want through hard work. I love Yo Sushi and go regularly with my friends. I am really looking forward to being involved with this group. Who knows what we can achieve!!!!
My name is Georgia Oakes. I am 11 years old and my Mum is Lara Oakes. She runs Festival Events and Planning with my Aunty Rach. Coincidentally I also enjoy being creative and expressing my feelings through design. This is a very good opportunity for me to see my Mum and Aunty Rach enjoying what they do. I want to be an actor but I would happily spend my free time running Events for Festivals...
I like running, I love spending time with my family and friends and doing drama and dance. I also love Nutella on EVERYTHING!!!!
My name is Gaynor. I am fully qualified Critical Care Nurse, live in Daresbury with my two beautiful daughters, Amelia and Izzie, my husband Simon and my dog, Daisy. Whilst I do not have my own business, one of my passions in life lies in mentoring, supporting and training young people. I volunteer for Girl Guiding Cheshire, to First Aid train all the Leaders.
I also train the Strong Women and Girls that attend the Guiding movement with is the largest organisational female movement in Cheshire. I love family time, being with my friends and am partial to a gin or two.
