Flowers, petals and seasonal colours

How to...

...choose your perfect petals and keep on budget

No matter what time of year you get married, seasonal flowers generally play a part.  Whether it is the simple elegance of a tightly bound baby’s breath bouquet or a loosely tied elaborate ensemble, it is one of the most influencing decisions you will take when planning your wedding as it dictates the whole colour theme of your magical day.

Most flowers can be imported out of season, but you are likely to pay above the odds.   Sticking to the season helps to keep things on budget as well as on trend.  Here at Festival HQ we have formulated an A to Z list of beautiful bouquet blossoms with their seasonal availability, to help you to make the right decisions in the planning stages, whilst sticking to your budget.

Spring

As everything comes alive after the winter and the light starts to improve during the early evening, the choices for your floral décor increase.  Whether it is creams and pastels, soft lilacs or bold yellows and blues, spring is the perfect time to play with different hues of available flowers.  It is the right time of year for fragrances to emanate from your bouquet, with delicate fresh notes to scent your whole venue.  Bouquets of loosely tied, flowing flowers are the order to the day.

Summer

As Spring turns to Summer, the availability of seasonal flowers grow.  Again fragrance is a huge part of our vision for our Client’s dream wedding.  Vibrancy is the order of the season, with rich greens, foliage, herbs and the freshness of the sunshine in your flowers.  Perfect for festival and vintage style weddings.  Festoon lighting is a Festival HQ must for the gentle lighting as the sun takes its time in setting.  Blossom and Wisteria trees lining your venue, with candles and floating flowers, the perfect décor radiates the relaxed elegance of the Summer months.  Boho chic comes round every year in wedding style, with an ethereal undertone.  Or maybe your Summer wedding needs the contrast of bright pinks against a beach backdrop.  Wherever you are, the choices for colours are at their highest for the year.

Autumn

This is the time of year for earthy, rustic tones.  The greens become softer and in roll the oranges, burnt reds and the purples to compliment.  Pumpkins and hay bails are the perfect accompaniment for the falling leaves, looking particularly stylish in your photographs.  Fragrance wise, lavenders and lilacs give a soft relaxed scent to compliment the season perfectly.  This is the perfect time of year for the woods and sparkles to come out as the nights begin to draw in.  Blankets for your guests shoulders and fire pits are perfect to compliment these colours.  More weddings take place inside as the weather gets more fresh and crisp.

Winter

Winter 4.jpg

The seasonal flowers of the Winter match those iced Christmas decorations from the end of October to February.  Richer reds and crisp whites are the most common winter themes, along with wine hues and the growth of the greenery.  Candles line the venue to radiate a warmth and the festoons of summer are swapped for fairy lights, making a dazzling venue.  Christmas trees, be it festive or lit twig trees look great throughout the season.  But for us here at Festival HQ it is the greens that seem to jump out.  Pale greens like Eucalyptus, gentle fir and rich Poinsettia leaves, help to hold the warmth in a room.  Furs and warm shoulder blankets for guests, with roaring fires and comforting mulled drinks make for a cosy set up for your day.  Finally, flowers seem to be more rigid and the fillers in your bouquet become about feathers and gentle sparkle to pick up the romance of the colder months.

For Winter, Festival loves…

Acacia, Anemone, Aranthera, Banksia Bottlebrush, Calla Lily, Chrysanthemums, Cybidium Orchids, Delphainiums, Hellebores, Hyacinths, Lilac, Lisianthus, Muscari, Phalaenopsis Orchids, Poinsettas, Protea, Roses, Sunflowers, Orchids and Winter Camelias to compliment the cosy ceremony in your venue.
